Tonya Davis Barber

Tonya has had a life-long love of the law. As a child, she always knew she would be an attorney. Though a little later in life than she planned, she graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina in 2011. Prior to law school, Tonya was a paralegal for ten years. During that time, she completed her criminal justice degree from Mount Olive College (now the University of Mount Olive). After passing the bar exam on the first try, she worked briefly with a bankruptcy attorney while growing her practice. Soon after that, she prosecuted for the Eighth Judicial District followed by an appointment as a Wayne County Magistrate before opening up Barber Law again.

Tonya is married with two children. Her daughter is a flight attendant residing in PA and her son is a busy toddler. Her family is very involved with the community. Tonya has been on many committees and boards in the area.

Community Involvement

Tonya is the past president of the Wayne County Bar Association as well as the Eighth Judicial District Bar Association. Currently, she is on the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation Board of Directors doing her part to make downtown Goldsboro a place to "be more and do more."
